The following sheets represent our own criteria for each category.

9 The game aims to be the next big thing that revolutionizes a genre or even the entire game industry.
7-8 A highly ambitious game with extensive content, innovative mechanics, and/or advanced technical features
5-6 A moderately ambitious game, with well-understood challenges and a safely measured scope.
3-4 A small game, focused on a specific set of straightforward concepts.
1-2 An extremely casual and straightforward game, typically featuring a single game mode, basic settings, and a high score system.

B 7.3 Silver Very good! Long way to go until perfection, but solid performance.
A 6.7 Bronze Nice! Could have been better though.
9 6 Meh Decent but forgettable, like a movie you only watch once.
8 5.3 Weak Sauce Underwhelming. Like bringing a spoon to a knife fight.
7 4.7 Ehhh... Not terrible, but not great either. Like lukewarm coffee.
6 4 Uh-Oh Not everything is wrong, but it's definitely not right.
5 3.3 Yikes! Poor... It's getting hard to find something to salvage.
4 2.7 Train Wreck At this point, there's no sugar-coating it. Just bad.
3 2 Dumpster Fire A milestone of horribleness. Time to rethink your life choices.
2 1.3 Epic Fail Hard to do worse. Like crashing a bike into a cactus.
1 0.7 The Abyss Almost impossible to do worse. This score needs a hug.
0 0 Rock Bottom Zero. Zilch. Nada. The epitome of failure.

Scores Criteria
18-20 The story IS the game
15-17 The story has a huge importance, but there's much more to the game
10-14 The story is there but plays a secondary role
5-9 There are some narrative elements in the game that provide context
0-4 There's no narrative and the story is minimal, if any
Accessibility🚪
Scores Criteria
18-20 Your grandma could probably play it
15-17 A few minor barriers but still highly accessible
10-14 Some significant barriers, tutorials are recommended (if any)
5-9 Tutorials are essential to even grasp the basics
0-4 Highly inaccessible, few to none tutorials
Depth🤿
Scores Criteria
18-20 A massive universe of concepts and mechanics with infinite depth
15-17 The amount of mechanics and the depth they entail is remarkable
10-14 There are at least a few concepts with considerable depth
5-9 Slightly deep mechanics here and there
0-4 Straightforward and plain, no depth whatsoever
Challenge💀
Scores Criteria
18-20 Extremely difficult, you'll be miserable
15-17 Remarkably challenging or featuring really tough modes
10-14 Average challenge
5-9 Fairly easy, you may have to lean in from time to time.
0-4 A walk in the park, perhaps literally.
Duration⌛
Scores Criteria
18-20 Absurdly long, almost feels unlimited
15-17 Great amount of hours to be played
10-14 Average length for a regular single player experience
5-9 Usually games you can finish in under 6-7 hours.
0-4 Super short experience, 2-3 hours to complete at most.
Freedom🌎
Scores Criteria
18-20 Freedom is the key element of the gameplay
15-17 Great liberty granted to the player
10-14 Linear backbone, but there's plenty of freedom on top of it
5-9 Pretty linear, but there are a few elements that break that linearity
0-4 The game is a straight line

When reviewing retro games, we strive to rate them as we would have at the time of their release. For instance, while GTA III might seem outdated today and most would prefer GTA V, we evaluate it as the groundbreaking game it was in 2001. Even if it didn't age well.
