Dimension: 9
Rockstar dared to attempt creating a 3D open world game that blended driving with third person action. Not much else needs to be said about how ambitious this project was at the time.
The Flair: E
Considering the size of Liberty City, the game runs very smoothly and boasts great graphics, which is an astounding feat. On top of that, the music tracks on the radio stations are excellent and the voice acting is pretty good.
The Feel: C
Let's be honest, GTA 3 hasn't aged well in terms of gameplay and controls. Even when it was released, the driving felt rough around the edges compared to previous generation games like Driver, and the shooting mechanics were stiff and cumbersome. The lack of a full map on the pause menu is particularly annoying. On the bright side, the implementation of open-world missions and story progression was groundbreaking, but the game still has its share of issues.
The Fuel: E
The open world is incredible, with great mission design and a wealth of interesting and fun content. ... The story is nothing to write home about though, as it often feels rushed and uncared for, as well as the null charisma of our speechless main protagonist.

Conclusions
Grand Theft Auto III set a milestone in the video game industry by offering one of the first modern, non-linear, action open-world games. It may not have aged well after many years and the improvements of its successors, but it remains a rite of passage for many hardcore fans and is still a must-play.
